We started with a simple observation about fear

Market volatility scares people. But here's the thing—it doesn't have to. Back in 2018, we noticed something odd: brilliant people making terrible decisions when numbers started jumping around. The problem wasn't intelligence. It was understanding.

That's when we decided to build something different. Not another trading platform. Not more noise. Just clarity.

Founded 2018

The coffee shop conversation that changed everything

December 2018. Three of us sitting in a Vancouver coffee shop watching people panic-sell during a market dip. We'd all worked in finance—seen crashes, corrections, the whole cycle. And we kept asking ourselves: why does this keep happening?

Everyone talks about market volatility like it's this mysterious force. But it's not mysterious. It follows patterns. It has reasons. The real mystery was why nobody explained it in plain language.

So we started writing. Small articles at first, then workshops. People kept showing up, asking questions, actually getting it. By early 2019, we knew we had something. Not a business plan exactly—more like a mission that accidentally became viable.

Seven years of figuring it out

We didn't have a masterplan. Just kept solving problems as they showed up.

2018
First workshop in a borrowed room
Twelve people showed up. We expected five. Ran three hours over because the questions wouldn't stop. That's when we realized people were actually hungry for this.
2019-2020
The content explosion phase
Published 147 articles, ran 23 workshops, drank probably 600 cups of coffee. Built our first real curriculum. Then March 2020 hit and suddenly everyone needed to understand market chaos.
2021
Going national across Canada
Opened programs in Toronto, Calgary, Montreal. Different cities, same questions. Learned that financial anxiety looks the same everywhere, just with different accents.
2022-2023
The refinement years
Stopped chasing growth. Started perfecting what we had. Rebuilt our entire approach based on what actually worked, not what looked good on paper. Lost some students, gained better outcomes.
2024-2025
Where we are now
Smaller team than you'd think. More focused than we've ever been. Still learning, still adjusting. The goal hasn't changed—just help people understand markets without the panic.

People who've been through it

Our instructors aren't career educators. They're people who spent years confused by markets, figured it out the hard way, and now help others skip the painful parts.

Darek Visser

Senior Market Educator

Lost $23,000 in the 2015 oil crash because he didn't understand commodity cycles. Spent the next three years studying market patterns obsessively. Now teaches the warning signs he wishes someone had explained to him back then.

"The worst part wasn't losing the money. It was feeling stupid for not seeing it coming. Nobody should feel that way about something that's actually predictable."

Kieran Bellamy

Volatility Analysis Specialist

Worked in algorithmic trading for six years before burning out completely. Realized he understood the math but had forgotten how to explain it to actual humans. Made the switch to education in 2020 and hasn't looked back.

"Trading floors speak in jargon because it's faster. But teaching requires slowing down, breaking things apart. That's harder and way more rewarding."

What we're building toward

Not trying to revolutionize finance. Just trying to make one piece of it make sense to more people.

2026 Vision

A generation of investors who don't panic when markets move. Who understand volatility as information instead of threat. That's the goal—not rich students, but informed ones.

Current Focus

Building better curriculum for late 2025 and early 2026 programs. Testing new teaching methods. Listening to what students actually struggle with, not what we think they should learn. Programs launching September 2025 and February 2026.

Foundation Principles

Markets aren't magic—they're systems. Volatility isn't random—it's reactive. Understanding isn't instant—it's built through repeated exposure. And panic is optional when you know what you're looking at. These ideas drive everything we do.
